Our next tasting will be 7:30PM on Monday August 8th. As it has been nearly eight years since our last Sauvignon Blanc tasting, we feel that we are past due to have another one. Originally from the Bordeaux and Loire regions of France, Sauvignon Blanc is grown all over the world in a plethora of different styles varying from assertively grassy to flinty to sweet.
It's the primary grape of White Bordeaux, Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, and New Zealand, and is even blended blended into wines such as Sauternes, usually with Semillon included.
Notable areas for production are the Loire Valley in France, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, California, and Chile. It's also grown in smaller production in Spain and Italy. Sauvignon Blanc is often made with no time on oak (New Zealand, South Africa, and Chile) to more traditional oaked flavors. In this tasting we will feature a collection of Sauvignon Blanc drawn from New Zealand, France, and several regions of California.
The cost will be $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Members get a preferential right to sign up for this tasting throughSunday August 14th. After that it will be opened to non-members. Current Hillside Club rules say that since we are indoors and are inclose proximity to each other, attendees must be fully vaccinated. Advanced signup is required. If interested, please sign up by sending us email at wine-rsvp@neophilic.com.
