In the late 1960′s, Ellen Singer-Vine studied painting with Elmer Bischoff and printmaking with George Miyasaki at UC Berkeley. When the events of People’s Park cancelled her classes, she left to live in Paris for five years where she also studied drawing and painting. On her return to the U.S., she pursued a Ph.D. in psychology and has maintained a private practice for almost thirty years. While she worked full-time and her husband and she raised three sons, she still found time to fit in her non-traditional quilting and mixed-media art. Now, after launching her three children and semi-retirement from her private practice, she’s now devoting her time to her passion for collage. Ellen lives in Berkeley with her husband.
